We develop biomedical imaging and instrumentation to address unmet needs in global public health

Our research focuses on ultrasound imaging and explores the following key themes:

  • AI/ML-based image analysis and user guidance
  • Instrumentation development
  • Human-centered design and innovation

To achieve our multi-disciplinary research goals, we partner closely with investigators at Boston College in the Connell School of Nursing, Department of Computer Science, Design and Innovation, and the Global Public Health and the Common Good Program, as well as clinical collaborators at Brigham and Women’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School in Boston and Jimma University in Ethiopia.

Research

Our research spans multiple disciplines, with a central focus on advancing the capabilities and usability of ultrasound, and other biomedical imaging and instrumentation technologies.

Teaching

Prof. Ranger teaches first-year engineering analysis laboratories, a reflection seminar, and a biomedical tech elective in the Human-Centered Engineering program.
